Fantastic pizza! Manchester crust with green olives and salami

Went there on New Year's Eve and the pizza was great. Glad this location is back, as it's way close to me, and the Coralville location is very difficult to get out of without driving out of my way.

Flying tomato is the best pizza in town. It is okay to listen to the differing opinion of others, but they are wrong. AND THAT'S OKAY!!! Seriously though, their crust is phenominal, plenty of cheese and toppings, cooked perfectly, never underdone. Menu is diverse, although a bit pricey (Solid value though). Not something I could eat every day, but an incredibly good treat to have many more times.

You will be told by adherents that the flying tomato, a style of pizza unique to Wig and Pen, is great. This is wrong. The flying tomato is mostly cheese. Unless you like cheese pizza, the flying tomato is 'eh'. What you will probably want to get instead is the Chicago Style stuffed. It doesn't cost any more than the flying tomato, but has far more flavor. There's a pretty narrow variety of pizzas available. This isn't a bad thing, there aren't any lame ducks on the menu. The best thing is the spicy Hawaiian. You can build your own with toppings, but that's costly. The per topping price is much higher than other pizza places.

Hands down the pizza here is the best in the Iowa City/Coralville area. The quality of the ingredients stands out. The crust has just enough crunch. This highlights two more reason to eat here: the build and the bake. They consider making and cooking your pizza an art form. The thickness of the crust, order of ingredients, amount of toppings - all of these variables are dialed in to perfection based on over a decade of slinging the 'zza. Highly recommended.

Not a dine in spot, so not very fancy waiting area,BUT the prep area and ovens are very clean. Used to make and bake tastes treats. Great crew this Friday evening. I even called in to let them know my pie was FANTASTIC.

We get their pizza regularly; the flying tomato is a nice flakey crust. Overall really good. We had guests in town who also really enjoyed it. On fridays they get busy and sometimes the pizza just doesn’t seem to be as tasty those days, so it’s better to order early or go for a less busy day.

The best Chicago style in the greater Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area! HANDS DOWN! Stuffed spinach and sausage, always with a side of ranch (or 3)
